Investing in the capital market is a risky activity. Because basically it is not easy to predict which company shares will have a high value in the future. Often even investors suffer losses due to wrong analysis. So that the shares bought instead of going up, but even down.

Even so, from the past until now, many people believe that investing in the capital market can make someone rich and achieve financial freedom without even having to work. This belief is certainly not without foundation. They see world investor figures whose names are listed in the ranks of the richest people in the world every year. Therefore, many people have no doubt that being an investor in the stock market can provide opportunities for everyone to be successful.

So, in this article, we will discuss who are the successful investors in the stock market.

The 5 Most Successful Investors in the World

If we mention the name of the most famous capital market investor in Indonesia, maybe we will immediately remember Lo Kheng Hong. He is the most successful and most famous investor in Indonesia. Of course, his success came from investing and not as an entrepreneur.

But, even though Lo Kheng Hong is the most successful investor in Indonesia, his name is not even in the ranks of the World’s Top Investors which we will discuss below. Then, who are the names of the most successful investors in the world?

1. Warren Buffet

In the first place is Warren Buffett. Of course, many of us often hear Warren Buffett, whether it’s just his name, news or even his words that are often quoted.

Warren Buffett is arguably the most successful investor in the world, even in the history of the capital market. Warren Buffett has a total net worth of $118 billion and makes him the 5th richest person in the world.

In addition, thanks to his expertise in investing, Warren Buffett has even been dubbed the Oracle of Ohama (forecaster from Ohama).

2.Jim Simons

Jim Simons is the founder of Renaissance Technologies, a leading Hedge Fund company in the United States that manages a total of $50 billion in investor funds.

Jim Simons’ success is reflected through his total wealth of $ 28.6 billion. And ranks 48th in the list of the richest people according to Forbes magazine.

In addition, Jim Simons is also considered one of the best investors of all time, because he was able to master and apply mathematical principles as a strategy in investing in the capital market.

3. Ken Griffin

Ken Griffin is the founder of Citadel, a Miami-based hedge fund company. The company currently manages about $57 billion in funds.

In addition, the company is also one of the largest market maker companies serving stock trading on the United States Stock Exchange. It is even said that one in 5 stock trading transactions on US stock exchanges are handled by the company.

Ken Griffin’s net worth currently stands at $27.2 billion, and makes him the 53rd person on the list of the richest people in the world.

Just like Jim Simons, Ken Griffin is known as a person who applies mathematical principles to his investment activities in the capital market. Ken Griffin uses a quantitative approach in analyzing and making decisions based on scientific data.

4.Ray Dalio

Ray Dalio is the founder of Bridgewater Associaties, the largest hedge fund company in the world today that manages around $150 billion in investment funds.

Ray Dalio has a net worth of around $22 billion and ranks 71st on the Forbes list of the richest people in the world.

Ray Dalio is considered a leading man in the investment world. Many people like his transparent, responsible and honest management style. And this is also the main factor that makes the company he leads the largest Hedge Fund company since 2013 until now.

5. Steve Cohen

Steve Cohen is the founder of Point72 Asset Management, a Hedge Fund company based in Stamford and manages a total of around $26 billion.

Steve Cohen’s current net worth is around $17.4 billion. And making Steve Cohen as the 96th in the list of the richest people in the world according to Forbes.

Unlike most investors, Steve Cohen has a short-term investment style. Steve Cohen is even considered a maestro for his investment style.

Conclusion

If you look at the educational backgrounds of the five successful investors, they already have adequate knowledge to become investors who act in the capital market and investments. At least, they are not investors who start their work just by dreaming of getting fast and instant money. The same mindset towards education from the five is a clear example that education is the first foundation when aspiring to be successful in a field, especially investment. This is a stern warning to anyone who wants to follow in their footsteps, but their mindset still likes instant things and is reluctant to study seriously.

Another similarity of the five of them is the ability to manage good risks. As we know, there is a saying in the investment and trading world that the most important thing is how to manage risk, if we can handle the risk, the profits will come by themselves. If in simple language, it’s better to think first how to maintain capital and minimize the risk as small as possible. If it can be done well, even if you don’t chase it, the benefits will come automatically. Of course this is different from most novice investors who actually prefer to seek maximum profits even as if they don’t care about risk management.

In general, they do not invest as individual investors, but each has a Hedge Fund company that manages collective investment funds. So that the investment activities they carry out are basically managed by the team they form.

Even so, each of the 5 people is an experienced investor in the capital market. Therefore, when creating a Hedge Fund company engaged in the investment sector, the company can survive and continue to grow and become bigger until now.
